Cartoon: Terrorism as disease

University of Kent sociologist, Frank Furedi, argues that 'Radicalisation' seeems to be viewed nowadays as a kind of mental illness which needs treating by a medical-like process known as 'de-radicalisation'. What the West fails to address is the question of why large numbers of young Moslems are so alienated from western society and its values that they seek to adopt an alternative, violent ideology. He has written copiosly on the topic ober the years and a number of his articles are linked to below. His principal book on the subject Invitation to Terror: The Expanding Empire of the Unknown (2008) is still available on Amazon.
