Why should Britain leave the EU?
Unless you have been living on Mars for the last few months you will need no reminding that Britain will be holding a referendum on 23 June on whether we should stay in the EU. For a lay-person who does not have a degree in economics the claims, counter-claims and downright doom-mongering on both sides is frankly bewildering. As there are equally well qualified experts on both sides I'm not even sure that having a degree in economics would help anyway. Everyone is trying to look into a crystal ball and to predict outcomes and whoever you are, it's a pretty murky crystal ball.
Most of the public debates so far have attempted to be balanced in their treatment of the arguments on both sides. At the Stoa we thought we'd be a bit different. We are going to be evaluating only the arguments for exit but we will be looking at the arguments from the left and the right wing of politics and seeing how far the converge or diverge.
Come along and have your say!
